• 秋季既是成熟的季節(jié),又是嚴冬之前草木開始蕭疏之時，故當autumn用于比喻義時,既可指一個人的“成熟時期”,也可指盛時已過、開始衰老之年,即“中年”或“初老”。具體含義當視修飾語及上下文而定。
