away是表示方位的副詞,其基本意思是“離開”。用在動詞或短語動詞之后表示與“離開”有關的各種不同的意思?？梢员硎尽半x開”的狀態(tài),也可表示“離開”的動作。
除用于動詞之后組成短語動詞的情況之外, away在句中主要用作狀語、表語或補語。偶爾也可用作定語,這時必須前置而不可后置。
away不用于比較等級。
用在back，behind，below，off等詞前時，away指“相去得遠地”。He came to China away back in 1950. 他早在1950年就來中國了。This specimen is away below the average. 這個標本遠低于平均水平。
