importance

常用用法

importance是不可數(shù)名詞,作“重要(性)”解,強調不受任何事物限制的重要或重要性,也可指一件重要的事或一種重要的東西,前面加不定冠詞。指人時表示“傲慢”。
importance后可接to或for。
(be) of importance表示“某事〔物〕重要”。

這兩個詞的共同意思是“重要,重要性”。其區(qū)別在于:
1.importance意為“重大,重要性”,強調不受任何事物的限制的重要或重要性。例如:
The test is of special importance.這次試驗特別重要。
It is of much importance to keep your teeth in good condition.保持牙齒健康是很重要的。
We all know the importance of good health.我們都知道,健康的身體對我們很重要。
The importance of washing one's hands is that it prevents infection.洗手之所以重要,是因為它能防止傳染疾病。
2.consequence強調不可忽視的或對隨后的事件頗有影響的事物的“重要,重要性”。例如:
The matter is of no consequence.這問題毫不重要。
A more important consequence of the war was the completion of the unification of Germany.這場戰(zhàn)爭的一個更重要的結果是德國完成了統(tǒng)一。
If they knew it, the consequences would be terrible.如果他們知道此事,其后果將極其嚴重。
