• prefer的基本意思是“較喜歡,更喜歡”,多指在兩個或兩個以上的選項中優(yōu)先選擇其中的一項,多用于“prefer...to...”或“prefer...rather than”結(jié)構(gòu),相當(dāng)于like better 或place before the others,因此不能用more或most來修飾它。引申可表示為“寧可”“寧愿”等。
• prefer也可作“提出”解,多指提出聲明、請求、控訴等,常與介詞against連用,是正式用語。
• prefer偶爾還可作“提升”“提拔”解,作此解時常與介詞to連用,常用于被動結(jié)構(gòu)。
