基本解釋

15世紀(jì)晚期進(jìn)入英語(yǔ)，直接源自古典拉丁語(yǔ)的producere：pro （向前） + ducere（產(chǎn)生，誘使），意為引向前進(jìn)，取出。

produce的基本意思是“生產(chǎn)”,可指生產(chǎn)一切有形的或無(wú)形的東西,引申可作“制作,創(chuàng)作”解,可用作不及物動(dòng)詞,也可用作及物動(dòng)詞,用作及物動(dòng)詞時(shí),接名詞或代詞作賓語(yǔ)。
produce也可作“出示,提供; 引起,導(dǎo)致; 出版,上演”解,作此解時(shí)用作及物動(dòng)詞,接名詞或代詞作賓語(yǔ)。produce可用于被動(dòng)結(jié)構(gòu)。

produce用作名詞時(shí)是“產(chǎn)品”的總稱(chēng),包括農(nóng)業(yè)產(chǎn)品、工業(yè)產(chǎn)品和天然產(chǎn)品,但主要是指農(nóng)產(chǎn)品,是不可數(shù)名詞。
produce作主語(yǔ)時(shí)其謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞用單數(shù)形式。
produce統(tǒng)一表示“出產(chǎn)品，農(nóng)產(chǎn)品”時(shí)，屬不可數(shù)名詞，沒(méi)有復(fù)數(shù)形式，也不能加a；
a product是“一件（天然、農(nóng)業(yè)、或工業(yè)）產(chǎn)品”，而a production是“一件(文學(xué)或藝術(shù)）作品”；
the literary products of the age和the literary productions of the age 這兩種說(shuō)法都可以。前者在比喻中使用了products，將作品比喻成產(chǎn)品；
有時(shí)候product也解釋為“產(chǎn)品總量”的意思。The factory's product for 1969 exceeds that for 1959.
