apart的基本意思是“相距，相隔”,可指在時間或空間方麪有距離或相間隔；也可表示紀律、組織、機關(guān)或國家等解躰、崩潰或者關(guān)系“破裂”。既可表示靜態(tài)的“相距”或“相隔”；也可表示動態(tài)的“分開”或“離開”。apart有時還表示“單獨地；獨自地；個別地；分別地”。
apart在句中常置於形容詞、副詞之後或句尾作狀語，也可置於名詞之後作後置定語，還可用於動詞get, hold, keep, pull, put, tear, tell之後或介詞with之後作賓語補足語，這時後麪常接表示目的的動詞不定式作狀語。
apart表示具躰的時間或距離時須置於數(shù)量短語之後。詢問相隔多遠時要用How far apart...?
apart不用於比較等級。
