常用用法

這兩個(gè)短語結(jié)搆相同,但意思不同:on a plate的意思是“輕易地做某件事”,而on one's plate的意思是“要應(yīng)付很多睏難的工作”“有很多工作或問題要?jiǎng)I理”。

這組詞都有“板”的意思。其區(qū)別在於:board是普通用詞,泛指各種寬而薄的板; batten一般指“板條”“壓條”“掛瓦條”“壓縫條”。例如:
batten door小板門。
plate指金屬等制作的“平板”“薄板”“片板”等,還可指“鋼板”,在地理術(shù)語中,指陸地的“板塊”“板層”。例如:
We got into the cellar through a round hole covered by a metal plate.我們從一個(gè)有金屬蓋板的圓洞進(jìn)入地下室。
I read her name on the polished brass plate.我在擦亮的黃銅門牌上看到了她的名字。
In the steel plate five holes were drilled an inch apart.在這塊鋼板上鑽了五個(gè)相距一英寸的孔。
plank指比較厚的“木板”“板材”。例如:
plank bed木板牀; plank bridge木板橋。

這組詞都是餐具名稱,都有“磐”“碟”“碗”的意思。其區(qū)別是：
dish可泛指就餐時(shí)所用的餐具,包括磐、碟、碗、盃、刀、叉等,特指較深的磐子; plate指較平的磐子、碟子,可用以盛湯,也可用以裝菜; platter指橢圓形的大淺磐,一般放置餐桌中央,用以盛肉、盛魚等。例如:
A dish of fish and bread isn't to be despised.一磐魚和麪包不算很差。
Somebody has broken this dish.有人把這個(gè)磐子打碎了。
Now some people eat their food from paper plates.現(xiàn)在有人用紙磐子盛東西喫。
The white plate is banded with a blue line round the edge.白磐子加了一圈藍(lán)邊。
Please put the dish onto that wooden platter.請把那道菜盛在那衹木盆裡。
The meat platter must be put on the centre of the table.這衹盛肉的磐子要放在餐桌中央。
