16世紀(jì)初期進(jìn)入英語(yǔ)，直接源自拉丁語(yǔ)的resolutionem，意爲(wèi)將事物分析爲(wèi)更簡(jiǎn)單的形式。

resolution作“正式?jīng)Q定,決議”解時(shí),可接動(dòng)詞不定式作定語(yǔ),也可以接that引導(dǎo)的從句作同位語(yǔ),但從句中的謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞要用虛擬式。
resolution作“決心,決定”解時(shí)也可接動(dòng)詞不定式作定語(yǔ)。
resolution後可接不定式，不接of或for和動(dòng)名詞形式。He made a resolution to study hard. 句中的to study不可改成of/for studying。
表示個(gè)人的“決心”時(shí)，用resolve多過(guò)resolution。He is still keeping his resolve. 他仍然堅(jiān)持著他的決心。
表示“堅(jiān)決性”時(shí)，多用resolution。如good resolutions和a new year's resolution；
resolution同motion的區(qū)別：通過(guò)一個(gè)motion時(shí)，往往會(huì)伴隨著執(zhí)行的動(dòng)作，是需要被做的。但一個(gè)resolution僅僅衹是表述一些真實(shí)的或有利的決議，不需要被執(zhí)行。
