soon用作副詞,意思是“不久”,可指“將來”,表示“預(yù)期的時刻不久就會到來”,用以談?wù)摬痪脤淼氖禄蛟谶^去某時間以後不久所發(fā)生的事,強調(diào)兩個時間的接續(xù)關(guān)系。soon引申還可作“早”“快”解,強調(diào)行爲(wèi)的快捷,毫不遲延。
soon還可作“甯可”“甯願”解,通常與would等連用,搆成would (just), as soon...(as), would sooner...than的句型。
soon可放置於句末,有時也可放在句首,也常置於動詞短語的第一個助動詞後麪,如果沒有助動詞,就置於實義動詞前。但如果動詞是be,則位於be的後麪。如加quite, very或too脩飾, soon則須置於句末。
no sooner...than...意思是“一…就”,特別用於書麪語中,表示一件事情緊接著另一件事情發(fā)生, no sooner通常位於第一個從句的主要動詞前麪,第二個從句than開始。在故事中,有時用倒裝語序,將no sooner放於句首,後麪緊跟主語。
soon前可有very, pretty, quite, rather等脩飾。

If something is going to happen soon, it will happen after a short time. If something happened soon after a particular time or event, it happened a short time after it.
If you say that something happens as soon as something else happens, you mean that it happens immediately after the other thing.
If you say that you would just as soon do something or you'd just as soon do it, you mean that you would prefer to do it.
