常用用法

conversation的意思是“談話,會談”,指兩個或兩個以上的人非正式地互相交換意見、思想、消息,側(cè)重于“交流”。其內(nèi)容可以是令人愉快的,也可以是令人厭煩的。
conversation在多數(shù)情況下是可數(shù)的,泛指談話時是不可數(shù)名詞。
conversation與動詞have, hold等連用時,要加不定冠詞,但與動詞make連用時不加不定冠詞。作主語或作介詞賓語時也不加不定冠詞,但有形容詞修飾時要加不定冠詞。
在說“跟……進行談話”可以說“hold或have a conversation，不能說take a conversation。I found it dnot easy to make conversation with her. 在這里make不可以改成hold或have。

這四個詞都可作“談話”解。其區(qū)別在于:conversation是非正式會談,可能是熱烈和令人興奮的,也可能是乏味和令人厭煩的; chat是朋友間非常隨便的交談,所談的往往是些有趣的事,但不是很重要的事; discussion一般指嚴肅地討論某一個問題或難題,并且尋求結(jié)論或解決的辦法, discussion有時可轉(zhuǎn)變?yōu)檗q論; dialogue是兩個或兩個以上的人之間的對話以及小說、戲劇等中的對白。例如:
In my conversation with him,I mentioned your business plan.我和他談話時曾提及你的營業(yè)計劃。
The two friends sat in a corner and had a chat about the weather.兩個朋友坐在屋角閑聊天氣。
There was a general discussion following his speech.他的講話完后進行了一般性的討論。
There is some good descriptive writing in the novel, but the dialogue is poor.這小說里有些很好的描寫,但對白很差。
