基本解釋

focus用作名詞時原始意義是“火爐”,引申爲“焦點”,轉化爲動詞則爲“(使)聚焦”,“(使)集中”。即“調(diào)整…的焦點或焦距以便看清”,引申則表示“使(注意力等)集中於某物”。
focus用作及物動詞時,可以接望遠鏡、焦點等作賓語,也可以接陽光等作賓語,還可以接目光等作賓語。focus用於比喻作“致力於”解時,則可以接mind, attention等作賓語。
focus也用作不及物動詞,這時常和介詞on連用,表示“聚焦於…”“致力於…”等。
focus on sth表示“集中於某事”；
focus作“中心，焦點”的解釋時，用詞範圍很廣，常被濫用，需注意。
